General Questions

What is Plushy.app?

Plushy.app transforms your photos into adorable plushy-style images across 56 hand-crafted styles. Upload a photo of your pet, family, couple, or child, pick a style, and we turn it into a cute plushy version in under a minute. Perfect for social media, keepsakes, gifts, and phone wallpapers.

How does it work?

Upload a photo, pick from 56 plushy styles — kawaii, Jellycat, crochet, vintage Steiff, and more — and we generate a plushy-style version of your subject in under 60 seconds. No design skills, no fiddling. One upload, one style pick, one download.

What types of photos work best?

Photos with clear subjects work best — people, pets, or groups with good lighting and clear backgrounds. Close-up portraits and three-quarter-angle shots typically produce the best results. Family and couple photos also work beautifully; see our guidance on family plushies and couple plushies for photo tips.

Account & Credits

Do I need to create an account?

Yes, you need to create an account to use Plushy.app. Registration is quick and simple, requiring only your email address or a Google login. Sign up free and your account comes with one free transformation to try the service.

How do credits work?

Each plushy transformation costs 10 credits. New users get one free transformation (watermarked) to try the service. After that, you can buy credit packs on the pricing page:

  • Basic — $4.99 for 3 transformations (30 credits)
  • Standard — $6.99 for 5 transformations (50 credits)
  • Premium — $9.99 for 15 transformations (150 credits)

Credits never expire, so use them whenever you want.

Can I get a refund for unused credits?

All credit purchases are final and non-refundable. Your credits never expire, so you can use them at any time in the future.

Transformations

How long does a transformation take?

Under a minute. Most transformations complete in 30–60 seconds. You'll see the result appear in your dashboard as soon as it's ready.

What's the difference between free and paid transformations?

Free transformations (available to new users) have lower image quality and include a Plushy.app watermark. Paid transformations provide higher resolution, better quality, and no watermarks. See the pricing page for credit packs starting at $4.99.

What if I'm not satisfied with my transformation?

While we aim for high-quality results on every photo, occasionally outputs don't land the way you hoped. If you're not thrilled with your plushy, try a different photo (better lighting, clearer subject, fewer objects in the frame) or a different style from our 56 options. Due to the generation cost we incur per transformation, we generally don't provide refunds on completed transformations — but we'll do our best to help you get a great result. Email chloe@plushy.app.

Can I edit my transformed image?

Currently, we don't offer built-in editing tools. You receive the final transformed image, which you can download and edit with other software if needed. We're exploring adding basic editing features in future updates.

About Your Plushy

Will my pet's breed stay recognizable in the plushy?

Yes. Breed preservation is the reason we built Plushy.app. Most other tools flatten all dogs into a generic fluffy shape, so corgis lose their stubby legs, French Bulldogs lose their bat ears, Persian cats lose their flat faces. Across all 56 of our styles, we defend the features that make a breed that breed — fluffy corgi butts, Jellycat-droopy ears, brindle Frenchie stripes, Husky heterochromia, all of it. Your pet stays unmistakably your pet.

Why do other tools turn my corgi into a Highland cow?

Because most other plushy tools collapse visually similar subjects into whichever shape they have more data for. Corgis and Highland cows share some features — long bodies, orange-and-white coats, short legs — and without strong breed-preservation logic, the output averages between them. We built our 56 styles specifically to prevent that kind of drift. Your corgi stays a corgi.

What's the difference between kawaii, Jellycat, and crochet styles?

Kawaii gives your subject giant sparkly anime eyes, rosy cheeks, and that Japanese cute-aesthetic roundness — maximum adorable factor.

Jellycat style mimics the luxury British plushy brand: soft floppy ears, muted palette, dignified cuteness, ready to gift.

Crochet Amigurumi renders your subject as a hand-stitched yarn toy with visible loops, button eyes, and stitched smiles — like someone's grandmother made it.

All 56 styles preserve breed features underneath. Browse the full gallery at /styles.

Does Plushy.app work on black or dark-furred pets?

Yes. Black cats, black Labs, and dark-coated breeds are historically hard for plushy tools because default lighting blows out dark features. Across our 56 styles, we handle dark-furred subjects with directional lighting that preserves facial structure — eye placement, ear shape, muzzle contour. For best results, upload a photo taken in soft natural light where your pet's eyes are clearly visible and catchlit.

Can I transform a photo with multiple pets or people?

Yes — family photos, couple photos, and multi-pet households all work. Our family and couple modes are specifically built to render every subject individually, with their own features preserved, at the same scale and detail level. Four family members in the source photo become four plushies in the output. Just make sure every subject's face is clearly visible in the original.

Does Plushy.app work on photos of deceased pets or family members?

Yes. A meaningful number of our users create memorial plushies of a beloved pet or family member who has passed away, often as a keepsake or gift to a grieving relative. Any clear photo works. For the most comforting result, pick an image where the subject looked happy or at ease and the lighting is soft. Many users tell us the resulting plushy becomes the object they wanted to hug.

Can I make a plushy from a drawing, cartoon, or illustration?

You can try, but results vary. Plushy.app is built primarily around photographs. Cartoon and illustration inputs sometimes work beautifully — especially if the original has clear features and strong contrast. Line drawings and rough sketches often struggle because there's not enough detail to infer texture, depth, or coat color. Photos are the safest bet.

Which plushy style should I choose for my pet or family?

Depends on the vibe. A few quick recommendations:

Can I use my plushy image commercially — on Etsy, merch, or prints?

Not at the moment. Plushies generated on Plushy.app are for personal use only — profile pictures, social media, phone wallpapers, gifts, and printed keepsakes for yourself. Selling on Etsy, printing on retail merchandise, or using them in commercial products is not permitted under our current terms. We're working on a commercial-use integration with a print-on-demand partner so you'll be able to print and sell plushy merchandise through Plushy.app directly. Stay tuned.

Can I get a higher-resolution version of my plushy for printing?

Our paid transformations output at print-ready resolution suitable for 8×10 prints, mugs, and small canvas work. For larger physical prints (poster size, wall art), the rendered texture holds up well at larger sizes because it wasn't photographed from the real world — no pixel noise to enlarge. If you're printing for a specific product and want size guidance, email chloe@plushy.app.
